New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has not selected any applicant for the role of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Yantra India Limited (YIL) after its selection meeting conducted on May 16.

As per the PESB notification, the Board advised the Administrative Ministry/Department to consider an appropriate path for further action in the appointment process, including the possibility of forming a Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) or adopting any other appropriate mechanism with the approval of the competent authority.

The interview session for the Schedule ‘A’ position was held on May 16. Three applicants were interviewed for the highest post at Yantra India Limited.

The candidates who appeared for the interaction included Kundan Singh, Executive Director in the Department of Defence Production; Surendra Dhapodkar, Senior Deputy Director General in the Department of Defence Production; and Shiva Shankar Prasad, Chief General Manager in the Department of Defence Production.

Yantra India Limited is among the seven Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) established after the corporatisation of the former Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) in October 2021. Headquartered in Nagpur, the enterprise functions under the Department of Defence Production and is involved in manufacturing ammunition hardware, metal and steel parts, carbon fibre composites, aluminium alloys, and components for artillery systems, armoured vehicles, and main battle tanks.

The defence PSU was recently accorded Miniratna Category-I status by the Ministry of Defence in acknowledgement of its transition into a profit-earning enterprise. The designation enables the company’s board to clear capital expenditure proposals up to Rs 500 crore without requiring prior approval from the government.
